As long as it is profitable CNN & Fox will continue the fear mongering. The masses tune in to see the next thing to fear. Congress is buying into all the new doomsday scenarios. We love to be scared, so we turn it on. Advertisers still pay top dollar to get that 30 seconds into your line of view. Now if you turned your attention to C-Span or began to use the internet with places like www.house.gov. You may be able to pull the information out and figure out for yourself what you think and come to a serious conclusion. But as long as you allow corporate sponsored hype dictate your world view you will still continue to buy into this nation of fear.
But once again beware killer tomatoes were only the beginning. Popeye should be dead his spinach was full of E. Coli. Now the biggest threat the world has ever seen has come about and it is called peanut butter! Fear peanut butter. Do you remember that movie The Stuff? You know it was about killer yogurt. I can just see a remake in the works. It seems to be on everyone’s mind. What in your refrigerator will kill you. Watch out mom! It’s a peanut butter spinach and tomato sandwich! It’s okay we’ll just pay someone to radiate the food. It’s going to kill us all! But we must make sure the nation receives digital converters so every home has Television. How will the masses know what to fear without digital television? We have the right to life liberty, the pursuit of happiness and digital television induced paranoia.
Our nation is addicted. We shut down for a sporting event so everyone can watch the advertisements? What the hell? We are talking about advertisements on the news! Pop culture is a thing of the past. Welcome to the modern moron culture! It’s going to be okay, President Obama says so. Just keep spending. Don’t live within your means, just avoid peanut butter and you will be safe. Don’t forget to buy American so we can keep the failed companies afloat. Just overlook the fact that their products may not fit your needs, and do it because they couldn’t remain relevant. Nobody will have jobs unless we keep the old ways around. Also make sure you are still paying the horse feed company and the buggy manufacturers, this is the future!
Update: (Oct 2, 09) This article came out in early February, and I wanted to add a little update to draw attention to our newest fear, The N1H1 Swine flu. We’re still at it.
