Media Bias More Left vs. Right
Nov 6, 2009 Anti-State, Corporatism, Philosophy, Politics
Media bias is everywhere and after the White House brought it to light I feel it should stay in the main stream media. We should not let this go. Thankfully there are reporters like John Stossel who have been facing this and keeping it alive. Like usual John Stosel is on the front line preaching to the republicrats a libertarian view point. He is a lone voice in a forest of statism.
The Double Standard About Bias in Journalism
Every reporter has a point of view. But some refuse to admit it.It is reassuring to see John Stossel out there, and it looks like his writings are over at Reason Magazine now. This somewhat disappoints me. I like him out there speaking to the left and right more so than to the already established libertarian minded individuals.
In September John Stossel also addressed this issue.
The Truth About Media Bias
Every reporter has political beliefsIt seems that this is a topic he will be confronting, and I hope he will not stand down from this.
Elsewhere we see Media Matters calling fox out: (Click Here) It is interesting to see one media outlet that is completely biased to the statist left calling out the other which is completely biased to the right. Even the White House is getting in the game with it’s “You’re Lying!” campaign. There is little fact in all of this, mostly perspective. What is not said or defined are the concepts that matter. The state adheres to Kenesian economic concepts calling others liars for denying the end result based on the failed history of kenesian policies. What is told is a utopian ends but the means is held to as scripture. It is not the ends we question. I realize what the goal is, and few will oppose the end result we are seeking in many areas. What is disputed is the means to that end. Anyone can say that there will be happiness, harmony, and utopia. The problem lies in the means to that end being something that has been tried and something that has continued to fail us.
The public discussion has become one of calling names. There is little discussion of policy. When it is discussed we discuss the desired end and rarely analyze the way we will get there. Is the American public too ignorant for this discussion? Politicians seem to feel this way. The media also seems to treat the public this way.
Many of the attacks and conclusions are these straw-men built on desired end results. I gather my news from sources that lean left and right. I realize when I go to those sources that they will defend certain concepts almost ignorantly. It is as if they are unaware how their political philosophy and world view have an impact on their perception. This is not necessarily wrong. Most will have a world view with which they will see events and the world around them through. There is a problem when we are that vicious and hateful to one another.
