Butter

butterThe thing about butter is that it is everywhere. I ordered broccoli the other day and they put butter on it. It was just covered in butter. So many people are out there cooking their family dinner with it and getting their children addicted to it. It clogs your arteries, makes you gain weight, and can cause heart problems. Can you imagine how many butter related deaths are in this country every year? I propose a new law in this country. Since people like butter and will not give it up of their own free will I think we should make them suffer. First off I think it should be illegal to use butter at any restaurant. We can not outlaw it. Even though it is bad for us we can use it to make more money to push my agenda. First off we classify every heart problem and every case of high blood pressure and the fatal demise it can lead to a butter related death. We then begin to ostracize the pigs who eat it. If we can paint people who enjoy this thing that is not good for them as horrible individuals it makes it easier on us to tax them. We then make them pay to run ads and programs that oppose what they are for. What better way to handle the situation than to force someone who believes one way to pay to help the group that slanders them? Then we quadruple the price of butter. Hell why stop there? Let’s price a pound of butter at fifty dollars and that can go to help pin more deaths on the individuals that eat butter and also to pay for hospital bills of other people that eat butter. I am not happy to just avoid butter myself by going places that it is not at and by not using it myself. I want those that eat this swill to suffer also. It is my right and their right for me to be content with them not eating it in my presence. Everywhere I go should be butter free. I shouldn’t have to seek out some place free of butter and they shouldn’t be able to find establishments that allow butter.

Seymour going pink for a day?

New Haven Register (New Haven, CT) October 20, 2009 | Mark Brackenbury By Jean Falbo-Sosnovich Register Correspondent SEYMOUR — The town is poised to turn pink Wednesday, thanks to a community effort to raise awareness about breast cancer.

“Seymour Pink” day, the brainchild of Seymour High School science teacher Mary Deming, has taken on a life of its own, with dozens of businesses, residents and schools pitching in for the cause.

Gov. M. Jodi Rell has even proclaimed Oct. 21 as “Seymour Pink Day.” “The energy is gaining and the sea of pink on that day will be incredible,” Deming said.

Since she began the mission to, in part, honor the memory of her mother who died of breast cancer 38 years ago, Deming has spread the word for the community to “see more” pink.

With October being National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Deming wanted to do something big to involve the entire town. She had pink T-shirts designed, courtesy of Blanchette’s, emblazoned with the pink breast cancer ribbon and bearing the words, “Seymour Pink,” with the “Y” in Seymour upside down to resemble the ribbon. go to web site vera bradley coupon code

Deming is encouraging everyone to either buy a T-shirt and wear it Wednesday, or wear something pink from their own closets. She’s also asking residents and business owners alike to adorn a front door or window in pink.

Hundreds of T-shirts have been sold at area businesses, and those still wanting one can stop at the Seymour High School office. Call 888-2561. The shirts are $10, with proceeds benefiting the Komen for a Cure Foundation.

Local businesses, like Thule Inc., bought 106 T-shirts for its employees, while Tickled Pink sold more than 125 shirts, according to Deming. Superintendent of Schools Mary Anne Mascolo bought shirts for the central office staff, while Assistant Superintendent of Operations and Finance Rick Belden bought shirts so that every school bus driver can be part of the pink celebration. site vera bradley coupon code

Even the high school volleyball team has designated its Friday game as “dig pink,” and all players will be sporting pink T-shirts. Other businesses, like Seybridge Pharmacy, asked for $5 donations, and in turn, offered 20 percent off Vera Bradley bags. With a special coupon, Hot Tamales will also donate 20 percent of patrons’ bills to the cause.

Town Hall employees are also getting into the act, with First Selectman Robert Koskelowski vowing to don a pink shirt and tie for the day.

According to statistics, the number of men and women in Connecticut diagnosed with breast cancer is higher than national rates. Of the 3.5 million people living in the state, the incidence rate for every 100,000 women is 129.9, compared with 117.7 nationally.

“Breast cancer can be beat, and raising awareness and funds to continue the fight is critical to achieving that goal,” Deming said.
