Baucus Breaks The Economy with Health Care
CBO (Congressional Budget Office) is claiming the current senate version of the health care bill in the senate titled “America’s Healthy Future Act of 2009″ will cost 829 billion and that it will somehow return 81 billion back to the deficit. Everyone is now happy, both sides can rejoice. If we spend money we will save money. Actually that is Bullshit. These numbers are based on speculative fantasy.
We all know the CBO has historically low balled the cost of any bill that is passed in congress. These speculative estimates often depict only one third of the actual price. So, let’s go easy on them and say they have only projected a half of the actual price which is historically unlikely. then we are looking at eating up that 81 billion and going into debt an additional 748 Billion. That’s not as bad as a trillion, but in reality we are looking at a more likely price that will be three times what is projected bringing it right under two and a half trillion.
If you challenge this as mere speculation I will point out that the entire price tag given by the CBO was speculation. This assumes that the economy has reached certain highs and assumes that we use silly bubble economics and bubbles don’t burst. It is based on the assumption that the economy soars. Wait! isn’t unemployment still climbing? Our federal government has fixed it as the White House claimed but still are looking at a second stimulus and we have not seen employment climb. We have been seeing inflation and the value of the dollar dropping though. Maybe they would like to take the collapsing dollar into account when they make these guesses. There is no room for anything except unlikely economic fantasies if you go with something like this.
Baucus has proposed elements that resemble free-market concepts only without the presence of a free market. Baucus is proposing a bill that will not provide health care, but it will penalize you if you do not buy insurance or buy into government regulated co-ops. The insurance companies are going to love all the extra business they receive from this though. So to take from the American People the Bausus Bill will mandate the citizen pay the large corporation and also it will tax our current health benefits. So more taxes. This from the Small Government Republicans.
Until Dirty old Pervy Uncle Sam pulls out we will not see any resolution to the high price of health care. I stand by my initial proposal of a system of volunteerism promoted by a tax reimbursement for those that have given into a system. This cuts out third party payers in many cases, and also provides health care for all without taxing or government having any more say. This minimizes government, and promotes charity and volunteerism to provide for the people.

Update: Michael F. Cannon from the Cato Institute posted a phenomenal piece on this today.
they state:
But the worst part is that the Congressional Budget Office’s preliminary cost estimate omits the cost of the private sector mandates in the Baucus bill. In Massachusetts, those costs accounted for 60 percent of the total cost of reform. That suggests the actual cost of the Baucus bill – $829 billion plus $75 billion plus $33 billion, times 2.5 – is well over $2 trillion.
