Well it’s time for our second weekly news roundup. I hope you guys enjoy.
The big story Tuesday seems to be the assault on HR 1207. It looks like some of our Big Government Republicans started a pseudo-defense of the Federal Reserve. They want ot pass watered down legislation in the Senate.

Arthur, Lindsay Grier Age 92. Born 30 July 1917, left this wonderful world on May 21, 2010. He is survived by his children, Lindsay Grier Arthur, Jr. (Katherine) of Minnetonka and Julie Arthur-Sherman of Eden Prairie; his grandchildren, Dr. Lindsay Grier Arthur, III (Dr. Kiersten) of Moorestown, NJ, Dr. Andrew Arthur (Dr. Christie Heikes) of Minneapolis, Signy Sherman, and Ross Sherman, both of Eden Prairie; his great-grandchildren, Madeline Arthur, Tyler Arthur, Elizabeth Arthur, Campbell Arthur, and Callie Arthur. He was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Jean Lorraine Johansen Arthur, and by two children, Hugh Arthur and Mollie Arthur. Judge Arthur grew up in south Minneapolis, attended John Burrough’s Elementary School, graduated from The Blake School (where he was the last surviving member of the Class of 1935), Princeton University, and the University of Minnesota Law School. He also attended Harvard Law School for one year until his education was interrupted by World War II, where he served his country as Torpedo Officer on a destroyer, the U.S.S. Mugford, and for which he received seven combat medals. He lived his life true to his motto “Measure each day by the smiles you’ve created.” He dedicated his professional life to the betterment of children and their families. For 18 years he served as Chief Judge of the Juvenile Court in Hennepin County, during a period when juvenile law was largely undeveloped, and many of his cases became landmark precedent in the field of juvenile law. He was a longtime Director and President of the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges and remained until his death a Senior Judicial Scholar with that organization. He served on the Board of Directors of The Boys Club, the YMCA, The Blake School, the Washburn Child Guidance Center, the National Council for State Courts, and Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Following his retirement from the Juvenile Court, he served at various times as Chief Judge of Family Court and Chief Judge of Mental Health Court and for a number of years was the Senior District Court Judge in Minnesota. He also served as a Commissioner of the American Law Institute’s Divorce Law Revision Committee. Prior to his appointment to the bench, he served two terms as Alderman of the 13th Ward in Minneapolis. While on the City Council, he was a founder of the Capital Long Range Improvement Committee, which was largely responsible for eliminating urban blight in downtown Minneapolis and which put in place policies that have now resulted in the development of the lower loop area that extends along the Mississippi River between Hennepin Avenue and the West Bank. Mostly, he loved life. A memorial service will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1200 Marquette Avenue South, on Tuesday, May 25 at 3:00 PM. A reception will follow at The Minikahda Club.
