Over the holidays I drove from Kansas City, MO to Cincinnati, OH to visit family. I live in the city, and tend to be uncomfortable in suburban and rural environments. I also tend to see a different demographic on a regular basis than that you would find in a rural farm community or the upper class suburbs. Along the way I saw a great deal of this. I also saw a completely different disgusting side of America, bathroom graffiti. I believe it is the expression of the most ignorant in society. You’ve all seen it.
There used to be a note of who to call for a good time, now it’s hate for Muslims and the President. Disagreeing with the president is not something I am condemning, I disagree with him often. This stuff was no doubt straight up racism. Someone in Illinois seemed to think it was appropriate to make lewd comments about “The Planet of the Apes” & the first lady. These were often accompanied by comments supporting wars in the middle east. They were not specific on what war, only that they feel if you are a Muslim you should be killed. Is that not exactly the kind of thought process that leads one to fly an airplane into the twin towers only in reverse? This is a little look at the cycle of violence in action in even the most uncivilized minds of American Citizens.
The comments ranged from claiming the president is a socialist and that he was born in Kenya to the classic symbol of racism and hate, the swastika. They go on to hate migrants and Muslims. This all makes me wonder who exactly are these people. It also strikes me as almost funny. These are all pro-war, anti-migrant, racist comments of the most ignorant type. It strikes me as funny simply because this is what the Republican right wing has for some sort of support. These are the ones who support government control of migration and war. I do find the walls of a toilet to be the appropriate place for such comments if there is a place for them at all in society.
I guess that Larry Craig did just have a wide stance, he was out campaigning in the restroom. He was writing GOP campaign slogans for the like minded fascist right wingers.
STUDENT SANTAS SELLING CARDINAL BASEBALL TICKETS TO PREPARE FOR HOLIDAY TOY DRIVE
US Fed News Service, Including US State News August 18, 2010 CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Aug. 17 — Southeast Missouri State University issued the following news release:
The Southeast Missouri State University Student Santas are selling tickets to the St. Louis Cardinals/San Diego Padres game on Sept. 18 to support their annual holiday season toy drive.
The St. Louis Cardinals will host the San Diego Padres at Busch Stadium at 6:15 p.m. Tickets are for outfield loge box seats and can be purchased from the Student Santas for a discounted price of $30.
All proceeds benefit the Student Santa program.
The non-profit organization, run through the state of Missouri, is also a recognized student organization on campus. For the past six years, students from Southeast have been collecting and delivering toys, clothes and food to needy families. here fox sports midwest
Originally started in the Department of Communication Studies at Southeast with the COMMrades, students were given extra credit for bringing in toys to donate. The group has since grown, joining with other departments and developing community and business support.
Organization founder, Jennifer Icaza-Gast, said “We get letters from all over the state of Missouri from parents who are in desperate need of help. Student Santas has helped close to 5,000 kids to date during Christmas. Because we get so many letters, we run out of toys and have to scramble to get donations.” The Student Santas have 500 tickets available for the Cardinal ballgame.
“If we sell all 500, we will have a ceremony at Busch Stadium the night of the game” and will be officially introduced, Icaza-Gast said. “We would also get to do the honorary first pitch and get scoreboard recognition. This would be a great benefit to our organization.” The group’s collection goal for the upcoming holiday season is to collect 8,000 toys from across the region. The promotion from the game could go a long way to helping reach that target, Icaza-Gast said.
Student Santas annually hold a toy drive throughout southeast Missouri and are planning their second annual “Sweatin’” with Santa Walk/Run. This year’s 5K Walk/Run is planned for Saturday, Oct 9. Former Cardinals first baseman and current FOX Sports Midwest game analyst Jack Clark will be on hand to sign autographs and take photos. in our site fox sports midwest
