The DMV Helps Itself
The power of the state oppresses. We’ve all dealt with the terrible monopoly of the DMV. The DMV operates on a completely government controlled market. The man this recently happened to wished to remain anonymous, so we will call him Bill. Bill’s had two cars, a wife and rented a little house. He had a van and a car that sat in the driveway because he could not afford to fix the vehicle up to the standards of the state. The state mandates required an inspection for function before he could put tags on the car. You have to pay the DMV the state said so.
One day Bill’s wife left and took the van. Bill found himself facing the financial burden of a divorce. In order to pay for his basic needs and the other demands now being made of him bill found himself driving the unregistered car to and from work. He was then pulled over and the money he put aside to repair the car went to the state. This postponed his planned maintenance. This led to many more traffic stops, which in turn led to a larger financial drain. The state wanted it’s money for him not having tags. Bill soon found himself unable to pay his state mandated insurance due to the thousands of dollars going to the state at this point. The state mandates required him to pay a corporation before they would allow him to drive to and from work. This led to a felony in the state for not having car insurance. This led to a suspension of his drivers license which he was never notified of.
Bill still had to pay the state all the money that they claimed he owed them. Bill did not pay a Mechanic enough, he did not pay an insurance corporation enough, and he did not pay the state enough. Bill was still being asked to pay the state. He did not have the money and in order to get it he had to break their law and drive to work. For Bill driving to work had become a crime. Bill had no family or support in the area so he had to rely on his own ability to reach his work to pay the state. This led to bill once again driving to work to get the money to pay the state. This led to Bill being arrested by the state and treated like a common criminal. He did not pay the DMV like the state told him.
Warrants were issued on Bill. This resulted with arrest the next time he was bulled over in his small town which had turned him to a target. The police did not like him they saw him as a criminal and treated him as such. Doing so brought in more revenue for them.
Bill did not harm a person. The only crime bill committed was not paying the state and the corporations that managed to pass legislation through the state. This is a perfect example of corporatism and the state. Bill is still attempting to battle his divorce in the courts and also fighting this legal battle.
I can see looking at this how some people who do not have as good of a job as Bill could be crushed by the state on something like this. The regulation of transportation can devastate the lowest income brackets. Good jobs are not in low income areas. Good education is not in a low income area. The state will require more than some people may be able to handle just to get to and from work. This leaves the low income in low income areas not able to fight for the jobs they need.
The state will make sure it gets the money it demands from those low income people if they dare not pay the corporations or the state. If they don’t pay they get to go to jail with all the rapists and killers.
The state Oppresses. The state steals and kills. The state looks out for itself.
