The Constitution

Some people are confused it seems with the whole concept of a constitution. Maybe this will clear things up. It seems that some still live in a fantasy where this is the new bible.

Meh. Too simplistic for my tastes. What is overlooked is the fact that the populous has a say in appointing those “robbers”. If you don’t want to be robbed, don’t vote for thieves and discourage others from doing the same! Granted, in a stateless society, taxation is a non-issue as there is no “state” to impose taxes and people would not be likely to tolerate theft by one person from another even for if that theft was somehow a “societal” gain, but someone has to play devil’s advocate here :-) .

Furthermore, the 5th amendment protects from just any property being taken without due process of law. Taxation is only applicable under a taxable event (granted Government and Constitution decide what that is) and thanks to the 16th amendment that includes having income and, thank’s to the 16th amendment, that can do so without regards to apportionment (basically allowing federal government to bypass the state government and reach into your pocket). If you want to reduce Government’s ability to tax you, push for a repeal of the 16th amendment which *totally* screwed up our taxation structure (indirect taxes are easier to avoid to direct ones).
