Statist Denial Of Reality
Many government apologists live their lives in denial. Many see conflicts, disputes and problems in society and seem to think the solution is found in a government. Government becomes the ‘fix-all’ solution. It is in your bedroom and relationships, how you raise your children, and what products you want to buy or not buy.
When one sees a problem they call for a government solution. The opposing side polarizes and begins to deny the problem exists instead of pursuing other solutions. In reaction to the oppositions denial the group who noted the initial problem becomes extreme. When a solution finally is reached it is one that has made as many in the privileged patriarchy rich. The corporations had their say and the politicians were paid a little extra for their efforts on behalf of the privileged.
This constant tug of war has made people irrational. One side denies economic realities. One side denies realities of the environment. We often choose to blame the victim. It gets outright stupid. Statists cling to the myth that there is a “good government” that is the answer to their problems they are forced into a corner where they must defend the absence of this benevolent dictator.
I accept the fact that government is unethical. This is not denial of problems that exist. There are many issues and problems we must fight to overcome. Racism, Sexism, Economy, Environment and much more are just a few issues some we look to the government for resolution. I do not claim that these issues should be ignored. I do claim that that government is a criminal entity the feeds it’s own greed through force and violence. The issues that exist must be confronted. We must do this not look to the mighty powerful politican to wave their magic wand of the state. Often there are more solutions and resolutions than we realize and to limit ourselves to a law or mandate we have excluded more efficient ways of eliminating problems or issues. Other times the solution chosen is even the worst solution.
Simply put, we must look at solutions that are outside of government.
The quick and cheap attack on anti-state views is found in this concept of no-government presence. The anti-statist says they oppose state or local police. The Statist jumps to “You like rape!” “You want to legalize murder!” or “Who will keep us safe?” We wish to be safe, safer than any police force has been able to accomplish, to say the state should not have that power is not to oppose a perceived or desired result.
This is simply a rejection of the immoral nature of the state. This is also an acceptance of choice and diversity in options which we have to choose from in resolving these issues. We do not want a forced coercive monopoly. This is pro-choice not just in one area, but really pro-choice on everything.
The black and white criticism of the pro-state advocates can be seen everywhere. These attacks should not anger or upset you as an anti-statist. You must realize that these knee-jerk reactions are fed by their “Us vs Them” mindset. They are used to having only one opposing argument and that is from the other side of the statist coin which is often complete denial of the issue. When confronted with actual opposition to their statism they are reacting out of the mindset that you will now deny the problem as they or their perceived statist opposition does. Do not try to justify your opposition to force, murder or theft, let the statists explain why their theft and murder is perceived as acceptable.
There are laws that are well intended. That is fine. does it make the law “right or just?” No. It is not the intention of the law that is opposed but the claim of authority the government makes that is opposed. I may complain a little less about that law, but it does not justify the violence that is essential to maintain the body that creates the law. It does not justify the violent aggressive foundation and nature of a state. The minarchist who is embracing government may not be able to claim this. The individual has already accepted some government aggression. I fail to see how they can begin to justify their stance once it has accepted what it claims to oppose. This leaves holes in their stance and arguments.
I wish to tell those that still embrace their government that because we oppose the concept of a government we are not embracing the absence of morality, society or chaos. The exact opposite is true.
Those who believe an answer or solution will be found in any government are living in a fantasy world. I am often accused of holding an unrealistic view and desires to reach ‘utopia’ which could not be any further from the truth. In a perfect world we could find that one miracle maker or those few miracle makers and their decisions would bend reality and create a world without problems, but I am not that idealist and I do not see this select few ruling elites as being that wise or benevolent.
