68% Say Rape of 10 yr. Old Children Is A-OK

I’m a little fed up with all the might makes right mindset held by the utilitarians. The trend is do a poll and flaunt it that more people agree with what you say. This takes on some perspective that it must be right if more people think that way. Most people watch “American Idol” so what is that saying? I recently saw a headline proclaiming that a majority percentage of those polled oppose birthright citizenship. Does that make it right? So if a majority agrees to violate the rights of an individual it is alright to violate the rights of that individual? What if the majority begins to agree with child rape? does that justify the rape of children? No!

Might does not make right. This is the concept behind democracy. The problem with the concept of majority rules is that the minority will be oppressed.  I am sick and tired of hearing the media justify the crimes of the state by saying that a large percentage desires that  crime to take place.

When will people reject the idea that they must force their desires on others and embrace the concepts of a voluntary society? One must lay out a strong ethical foundation for the structure of society. Governments have failed to do so. The state commits crimes claiming it is “the will of the people.” So what? If it is the will of the people for the state to rape children it is still wrong to rape children. It is wrong to murder and steal if the state renames that murder and theft it does not make it right. If the state takes a poll that many want to murder and steal it still does not justify the actions.

So where do we draw the line? Many still try to justify their actions with utilitarian concepts. They will say the mass murder is okay because the end goal is peace. We see that has yet to happen. They will say theft is good then tell why one needs to be robbed or tell what they will do with the money. The ends do not justify the means. The simple measure should not be if more people want it but should always be the Non-Aggression Axiom:

The libertarian creed rests upon one central axiom: that no man or group of men may aggress against the person or property of anyone else. This may be called the “nonagression axiom/” “Aggression” is defined as the initiation of the use or threat of physical violence against the person or property of anyone else. Aggression is therefore synonymous with invasion.
