Alt Right Leader Richard Spencer: Making No Sense

If you’ve paid attention to Canadian news at all, then you have probably heard about the so called “Slut March” – in which apparently hundreds of women demonstrated for their right to dress luringly. Richard Spencer, the creator of Alternative Right, had this to say about the march:

One can be sure that the policeman who warned against dressing skanky has been put through the sensitivity-training ringer. If he were more honest, he might have instead suggested that the women avoid looking slutty around the Diversity that Canada and the City of Toronto have been assiduously importing over the past quarter century. Though saying such a thing might have brought everyone, including the officer himself, a little too close to a recognition of the contradictions of contemporary liberalism.

Read that again: “avoid looking slutty around the Diversity that Canada and the City of Toronto have been assiduously importing over the past quarter century.” Geez, and to think Spencer could have actually made his movement look presentable here if he had wanted to. Lord, and this is the future of conservatism?

In a less rancorous analysis, I suggest that some of the marchers read Susan Sontag. Sontag once famously said that sexuality is one of the most “demonic forces” in humanity. Religious leaders have said this for thousands of years and human nature hasn’t changed just yet, to our knowledge. I imagine that the police officer in question was operating with an assumption of what Sontag has said and expressed it without class. That doesn’t take the truth away from it, however.

I wouldn’t say “demonic” , just has a tendency to get carried away.
