Bush’s Or Obama’s Fault? Updated
Sep 1, 2009 Philosophy, Politics, Senate
We have to have a villain to point a finger. Nobody wants the finger to be pointed at them. It is always easy to find someone to point at, but the thing is, that as a community and a society we have all taken part in the problems at hand. We all share responsibility and we all want a quick way out while yelling at the other team about how “Bad” they were.
Both George W. Bush & Barack Obama have moved in a relatively similar statist direction. One got us to the point where the other took control and continued on that track. It’s that simple. Neither one is the one to blame. Now in reality these men would have gone nowhere without Congress. They make the rules. They let it all happen with both Figureheads. With this in mind I ask you who put congress in power? If you did it is on your shoulders. If you didn’t vote, then you had no say, when you could have. either way the blame can be passed around all day.
And it is!
Blame Blame Blame!
Cable News, Talk Shows, and Republicrats are all out for blood blaming the “Other Party”.
Well, it seems like it is time to grow up. We can look at how both sides have failed with big government solutions, and statist ideas. We are still failing with all that. If banks & companies are “too big to fail” what makes one government power with such influence in society? If we made our government “too big to fail” where does it leave us when it inevitably does fail?
Bush & Obama both made huge steps in the Health Care, both increased the deficit, both palyed corporate bailout, both waged massive wars, and both got entirely too much credit.
Then the name calling came in. Everyone is either AstroTurf or a member of the National Socialist Party (NAZI). It became more about catch phrases and playing to an emotional string than any true political philosophy. It is a war by politicians pandering for votes next election and not actually looking out for the good of the country, people, or anyone but their careers, packetbooks and rich friends.
There is not often a “lesser of two evils” of course in extreme cases like Hitler or Obama I think everyone would go for Obama as a “lesser of two evils” but really if there are two evils why would we choose from them instead of seeking out the “good” or ideal?
Republicans & Democrats are both looking to expand State & Federal Power. None of those guys are hurting for jobs or their paychecks in the recession, in fact they are expanding!
What is wrong with all this? You are. The citizens are to blame. We play their game, we vote for them, we go along with it. Go ahead and vote in Republicans in 2010, or Democrats, it will make little difference. We are not going to find the answers in quick campaign promises. Anything worth having will not come overnight. We will have to begin to make changes within ourselves before we begin to change congress or government.
No! it’s not Bush! It’s not Obama! It’s not Republicrats! It is us as a society. We waste money on ipods while people in our cities go homeless and hungry. We let government have control rarely doing anything to stop it besides complaining. We don’t fix the problems ourselves as we should, and we let others exploit their power in the name of compassion. We keep doing the same thing over and over with the Republicrats and it doesn’t work. Until we all look at how we have contributed to our situation and change behaviors, we will keep up this frivolous game.
UPDATE: (9/22/09) I was sent a great article by K Michael I think you may want to check out titled:
the article starts out:
One of the problems that the USA currently has is the rather recent, and increasing, insistence upon viewing history as nothing more than a buck-passing blame-game.
