@Ron Why does it matter if it is 1950 or 2009? Every politician has an “agenda”. Were Eisenhower and Truman without agendas? What is the agenda you are referring to?

@Ninja R I thought stated my stance on it. Would I push to amend? No, at least not any time in the near future. Would I support an effort to amend? Yes I would. My support would be more focused on creating a free market, drugs would be a small benefit.

No, you didn’t claim it. It wouldn’t be true anyway. Regardless of how many countless examples you can mention, you also didn’t answer my question.

…because that’s exactly what it’ll take at the federal level (which is what your post alluded to) — a Constitutional amendment.

Volunteerism being pushed by the federal government may have been a great thing back in, let’s say, the 1940s and 50s but under this administration the problem with it is that there’s an agenda behind it. And that agenda isn’t in the best interests of this nation. It’s in the best interest of the Obama administration and his “friends.” From here it’s up to Americans to make volunteerism their agenda and not one driven by the federal government.

As for giving states their rights back concerning drug laws and marijuana…of course it’s a good thing. But, again, there’s the agenda behind it. I wouldn’t believe it to be true until something solid, like a bill, is passed without extra federal ‘agenda-driven’ conditions. Because, right now, they’re only words and the words of any politician alone are not believable.

@Ninja R I have never claimed the constitution to be the holy word of God. I believe it has problems. The interstate commerce clause is used to hinder free-trade. We can point out countless examples of how bad regulating commerce is from the East India Tea Company to Tire Tariffs. Roosevelt liked it though, It goes well with New Deal politics.
