Prison For your Political Views: UPDATE
Feb 10, 2010 Anti-State, Libertarianism, Philosophy, Police State, Politics
UPDATE: It appears the facts of this story are in fact about 30 years late. This bill may be in the process of being repealed. The law is reality, only it has been an existing law since the 70’s, so this is nothing new or recently passed as assumed in the article. The facts of the law are all still relevant and true.
Yes! You can be placed in prison for your political views in South Carolina. The strength of the Police State continues to grow. The future looks grim. Independent Institute pointed out an article on The Raw Story: No joke: South Carolina now requires ’subversives’ to register. South Carolina did it. They are demanding that Anarchists and others register with the state. Let’s see you oppose the state so the state says you should register with them. To do what? To exist? To think? Let’s see:
They are calling it the Subversive Activities Registration Act. It is found under Title 23 Law Enforcement and Public Safety Chapter 29. Apparently they feel that law enforcement is on par some how with public safety; this could not be further from the truth. Now your political views are seen as some sort of menace to public safety? It is our views and philosophy that will have a future impact on the existence of the State. Yes, the truth threatens their control and ability to take from us or force themselves upon us. The Oppressor must maintain it’s power over the oppressed. The state sees a growing threat. Freedom can not be tolerated by the state.
The bill defines a Subversive Group as:

The Reality of Climate Change
Dec 7, 2009 Corporatism, Politics
Climate Change seems to be under attack. I find the reactions to this interesting. There are two extremes in the political climate war. The issue is so polarizing that both sides have, through the process of reacting to one another, become extreme in an attempt to maintain a defense. We have the Rush Limbaugh supporters who want to tear the limbs off of small animals and burn down forests, and we have the Al Gore supporters who preach of the coming apocalypse with fear mongering doom and gloom. Now I realize there are many level headed individuals who lean one side or the other, but it seems the most vocal voices are the most extreme. The right is yelling Climategate, and the left is yelling crazy conservatives!
I always find the apocalyptic mindset to be kind of hard to swallow. Remember Y2K? For thousands of years the end of the world has been preached by many religions. The dead sea scrolls came from an apocalyptic sect of Judaism. On the other hand the conservative mindset tends to be limited, dismissing the turmoils and problems that others face. They tend to see their immediate world as the only reality that matters.
Media Bias More Left vs. Right
Nov 6, 2009 Anti-State, Corporatism, Philosophy, Politics
Media bias is everywhere and after the White House brought it to light I feel it should stay in the main stream media. We should not let this go. Thankfully there are reporters like John Stossel who have been facing this and keeping it alive. Like usual John Stosel is on the front line preaching to the republicrats a libertarian view point. He is a lone voice in a forest of statism.
The Double Standard About Bias in Journalism
Every reporter has a point of view. But some refuse to admit it.It is reassuring to see John Stossel out there, and it looks like his writings are over at Reason Magazine now. This somewhat disappoints me. I like him out there speaking to the left and right more so than to the already established libertarian minded individuals.
In September John Stossel also addressed this issue.
The Truth About Media Bias
Every reporter has political beliefsIt seems that this is a topic he will be confronting, and I hope he will not stand down from this.

Pay No Attention to the Man Behind the Curtain

Instead of ‘Pay No attention to That Man Behind the Curtain!’ A Better Question Seems to Be, ‘What Happened to the Curtain?’
“I used to be disgusted; now I try to be amused.”
~ Elvis Costello
Almost everyone is familiar with the genesis of the phrase, “Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!” The Wizard of Oz, who uttered this famous phrase, had a scheme. That scheme was based directly upon an impression of omnipotence without any legitimate power. Surely that impression would be lost should anyone see him pulling levers and talking into a microphone. I can’t help but imagine that if an agent of today’s state were to switch places with the Wizard, he’d utter no such words. In fact, I suspect he’d just sit there, a nearly-naked pseudo-emperor, with no concern that we could see him. Instead of trying to be coy, he’d leave us with no choice but to exclaim, “Hey, what happened to the curtain?”
I Voted Today: Vote NO to the War on Drugs
Nov 3, 2009 Police State, Politics, PunkJohnnyCash Blog
The problem with legislation is always that a few humanitarian causes and a few good bits make it in with a load of tripe. So I ask you all if you want some corn will you look to consume the turd with a piece of corn in it, or will you hold off for the corn on the cob? In politics we dive after the corn in the turd consuming the entire piece of feces.
Here in Kansas City it is election day, and there is one single piece on the ballot. This is the COMBAT tax. I woke early this morning to walk out to the polls. I cast my vote against this terrible piece of leislation.
I am against tax, but the tax here was not my concern since it was so minimal. I was opposing where the money goes. This attempts to dress itself up like a humanitarian effort when in fact it only goes to pay more prosecutors and tyrant cops. This is strictly a way to fund the War on Drugs. I am opposed to drug use, but even more so I oppose government’s War on Drugs. I oppose the government having that much say in our lives.
The COMBAT tax goes to harm people with addictions, and to take away peoples houses. It fills our streets with soldiers in Combat against the evil plant marajuana. I beg you all in the Kansas City area, please get out today while you have a chance and say “NO!” to the War on Drugs.

Does the Existence of the State Cause Conflicts of Interest?

My phone is tapped. My mail is read.
They know the thoughts inside my head.
The money I deposited
is now reported to the Fed.
They chip my hand, dispense my bread.
I think they watch me go to bed.
I don’t object. I’m glad instead
to be controlled until I’m dead.
- G. Edward Griffin, from “It’s All for My Security“
As I listened to a classic speech from Murray Rothbard, entitled, “The History of Taxation” something he said struck me. (Often, when listening to Rothbard, this happens.) He mentioned the obvious connections between people who worked inside the banking elite and those who worked, or seemed to work, outside of it, in the regulatory realm. There seemed to be, at that time and now, a cross-pollination between the two bodies, even though one is supposed to oversee the other.
The Afghan War: “Why and to What End?”

US Troops in Afghanistan
A Washington Post article today makes an account of a Marine Corps Captain, Matthew Hoh, who resigned his post in protest of the war in Afghanistan. He states:
“I have lost understanding of and confidence in the strategic purposes of the United States’ presence in Afghanistan…I have doubts and reservations about our current strategy and planned future strategy, but my resignation is based not upon how we are pursuing this war, but why and to what end.”
I find this story heartening. After 8 years, thousands of American soldiers dead or wounded, and hundreds of billions of dollars spent in Afghanistan, we have accomplished virtually nothing, and have in fact, made our political situation in the Middle East much worse. Unfortunately, our interventionist foreign policy will likely keep us there for another 8, or even 80, years. War is a great tool for controlling people, confiscating both their wealth and freedoms. I would like to see more military men and women stand up for America and her interests in the manner that Captain Hoh did. I do not blame our soldiers for America’s destructive foreign policy, but the simple fact remains that their compliance with it makes America’s pursuit of this type of interventionism possible, and with it, individual liberties in America are eroded away daily.

Big Government Corporatism In Free Market Clothing
Oct 22, 2009 Corporatism, Politics, Senate
I write this for fear of the return of Big government Republicans in 2010. Republicans are saying Free Market and doing the opposite. I fear who they will support, and I fear who will follow with their votes.
Big Government Cronies are going to preach the Free Market so they can expand Corporatism. This is the plan of the Republican party. Here in Missouri we are seeing our former Senator Jim Talent Start to change his vocabulary to get back his power and wealth at the expense of freedom. He started a website with a freedom movement friendly name Freedom Solutions, American Freedom and Enterprise Foundation. This is really just a Neo-Con attempting to present old failed Neo-Con Bush politics with a new paint job.
From 1993 to 2001 Jim Talent was in the House. In 2002 he was elected to the Senate and stayed there until 2007. The only reason the guy can claim he did not Vote for the Latest bailouts and TARP is because for that short one year period he was out. Jim Talent was one of those sloppy big government Republicans who got us here.
